Kirk Cameron in Marietta, Ga. last weekend

We had another event with Kirk Cameron and Warren Barfield last weekend in Marietta, Georgia.  More than 4,000 people turned out for this one and, as usual, Kirk and Warren were awesome.  In coming weeks, we’ll be in Alabama, Florida and Oklahoma — then we’re done for 2010.  We’re currently working out the details of 2011, but we will continue to do the LOVE WORTH FIGHTING FOR tour across the country.  We have raised tens of thousands of dollars for charities that help those in need and, at the same time, brought some some helpful information to people about relationships, marriage and family.

Feed Your Faith’s LOVE WORTH FIGHTING FOR tour will be in Huntsville, Alabama on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Whitesburg Baptist Church.  The event has two sessions – an afternoon matinee session from 1 – 4:30 p.m. and an evening session from 7 – 10:30 p.m.

Feed Your Faith was started five years ago by Mike Williams. His concept was simple: Bring in the best and brightest Christian speakers, authors and musicians to spiritually feed believers while raising money to physically feed those in need. Four years ago, Williams was joined by Rick Laney, co-director of Feed Your Faith and today the ministry is still a two-man operation. Feed Your Faith has worked with nationally known writers and music groups including Kirk Cameron, Warren Barfield, Lee Strobel (former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune and author of The Case for Christ), author Mark Middleberg, DecembeRadio, Decyfer Down and Sanctus Real (Dove Award winning Christian Rock and Alternative band), needtobreath and Sarah Reeves. To date, Feed Your Faith has raised tens of thousands of dollars for charities throughout the Southeast United States.

The Feed Your Faith “Love Worth Fighting For” tour featuring Kirk Cameron and Warren Barfield is still going strong throughout the Southeast United States.  What started last summer in Knoxville, Tenn. has now been to Lexington, Ky., Atlanta, Ga. and — this past weekend — Boca Raton, Fla.  So far, tens of thousands have turned out to hear the strong message of strengthening relationships with our spouses, our families, our churches and our communities.  Along with singer/songwriter Warren Barfield (who wrote and sang the theme song Love Is Not A Fight from last year’s hit movie Fireproof starring Kirk Cameron) the Love Worth Fighting For tour has many more dates to come.

Next up, we’ll be in Aiken, S.C. and Hendersonville, N.C on June 12 and 13.  Visit Feed Your Faith’s website for more information about upcoming events and the cities we are coming to.

Feed Your Faith was started five years ago by one of my closest friends, Mike Williams.  His concept was simple:  Bring in the best and brightest Christian speakers, authors and musicians to spiritually feed believers while raising money to physically feed those in need.  Four years ago, I joined Mike as co-director of Feed Your Faith and today the ministry is still a two-man operation. Because all proceeds from our events go to helping the needy, Feed Your Faith has raised tens of thousands of dollars for charities throughout the Southeast United States.

Tens of thousands have attended the "Love Worth Fighting For" tour

Try to join us if we’re coming to a city near you.  I promise an evening of fun, laughter and learning about how all of us can strengthen the most important thing in our lives … our relationships with others.  Watch videos from Feed Your Faith Events here.

If you’ve followed this blog, you know that I am co-director of a nonprofit group called Feed Your Faith.  This is what I do in my “spare” time.  Five years ago, one of my dearest friends, Mike Williams, started Feed Your Faith on little more than an idea and a desire to help those in need.  His concept was simple — bring in Christian authors, speakers and music groups to “feed” the faithful while raising money to literally feed those in need.  I joined Mike shortly after he started the group and we have been a two-man team ever since.

What started with events attended by 100 or 150 people that generated a few hundred dollars for groups like Knox Area Rescue Ministries and Family Promise has turned into a big deal.  Last year, our first Kirk Cameron marriage conference was attended by 9,000 people and generated nearly $15,000 for the brand new Family Promise of Blount County.

Rick Laney introduces DecembeRadio

Immediately after that event, Mike and I were asked by Kirk Cameron to “duplicate” that conference throughout the Southeast U.S. — and that is exactly what is happening right now.  So far this year, we’ve been to Lexington and Atlanta.  In coming weeks, we will be in Boca Raton, Florida followed quickly by additional conferences in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Oklahoma.  It has been nothing short of a miracle what has been accomplished by two guys working on their own computers (we joke that the “luxurious” Feed Your Faith offices are in my bedroom and Mike’s basement) who have somehow been able to keep the focus on what we originally set out to accomplish.

During this time, Mike and I have changed jobs, been through personal struggles, dealt with his alternating night shifts and day shifts, had guest speakers “disappear” on us the night before major events, and watched as our headline speaker walked off an airplane with a fever of 104-degrees who was asking to be taken immediately to the emergency room.  Through it all, Mike has been a great friend and an awesome partner — and I love him to death.  Surprisingly, when I look back on all of this, it’s been nothing but fun and a real blessing to be involved with.

Mike Williams, founder of Feed Your Faith

I’m really proud of where Feed Your Faith started and I’m really proud of where it is today.  We haven’t lost an ounce of desire to do what we planned to do from the very first day Mike Williams asked me, “What would happen if we …”

We just had two new videos produced that you can watch below.  They are a far cry from the posters we used to make for our events on our ink-jet printers.  The one on top is specifically about the Feed Your Faith LOVE WORTH FIGHTING FOR Tour featuring Kirk Cameron and Warren Barfield.  The other is an overview of a variety of events Feed Your Faith has produced over the past five years.  If you want to learn more about Feed Your Faith, I have a complete category on this blog (just click the link here) or just go to our website herePlease take a few minutes (literally … just a few minutes) and watch the videos below.  Jonathan Crandall did these videos and he’s a true artist (thank you Jonathan !!).

ATLANTA, Ga. – Feed Your Faith’s LOVE WORTH FIGHTING FOR tour featuring Kirk Cameron and Warren Barfield LIVE will be in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church.

The LOVE WORTH FIGHTING FOR tour features actor, writer and evangelist Kirk Cameron and singer/songwriter Warren Barfield (“Love Is Not A Fight” from the FIREPROOF movie starring Kirk Cameron).  This event has two sessions – an afternoon matinee session beginning at 1 p.m. and an evening session beginning at 7 p.m.

In 2009, this event was attended by nearly 9,000 people in Knoxville, Tenn. and tickets sold out almost six months early.  Don’t wait if you wish to participate in this amazing, life-changing conference.

Cameron starred in the runaway hit movie FIREPROOF last year.  Following the success of his 1980s hit television show, Growing Pains, Kirk Cameron married actress Chelsea Noble and started a family. Today the father of six is an outspoken believer and has starred in the Left Behind movie series.

Kirk Cameron and Warren Barfield

North Carolina-born singer/songwriter Warren Barfield is on a mission to make the truly important things important again in his life. Things like faith, love, marriage, children, truth, and with his songs, he challenges us all to do the same. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “If a man hasn’t discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.” Warren has found those things in his faith, his wife, and his belief in love. “These are the things I would die for; things I will wake up every morning and spend my day fighting for,” Barfield said.

For the past four years, Feed Your Faith has sponsored the best and brightest Christian speakers, authors and performing artists to “feed” the faithful while raising tens of thousands of dollars to feed those who are in need.

A few years ago, Mike Williams – a Blount County resident with a heart for people who are struggling – started Feed Your Faith. The Feed Your Faith concept was simple; bring in Christian speakers, authors, singers and music groups to help Christians grow in their faith and, at the same time, raise money for those who are less fortunate. Unlike some nonprofit and charity groups, Feed Your Faith has virtually no overhead expenses – so once the cost of bringing the event to town is covered, proceeds go directly to local charities.

To date, Feed Your Faith has worked with nationally known writers and music groups including Lee Strobel (former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune and author of The Case for Christ), author Mark Middleberg, DecembeRadio, Decyfer Down and Sanctus Real (Dove Award winning Christian Rock and Alternative band), needtobreath and Sarah Reeves.

LEXINGTON, Ky. –  March 14, 2010 – The Feed Your Faith LOVE WORTH FIGHTING FOR Tour kicked off its 2010 U.S. Tour featuring Kirk Cameron and Warren Barfield of 2009’s runaway hit movie “Fireproof” in Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Immanuel Baptist Church.  More than 1,000 people turned out and families, marriages and lives were changed.

Here are quotes from attendees:

“We saw Kirk and Warren last Saturday night! I cannot say how WONDERFUL they both were!! My husband and I had talked about how we grew up watching Kirk and we talked about how down to earth he is….what a wonderful Christian and husband! The biblical advice he revealed will surely help many marriages. We started the Love Dare a couple of days after the seminar… It is so wonderful to see someone of fame and fortune put God first in their lives and to not be ashamed of that! He could have chosen a very different path in life due to his early fame….but he is an awesome example to everyone young and old. He was so nice and friendly! He is true and genuine.  Warren Barfield is the most awesome live singer I believe I have ever heard! Thank you for a great evening, you guys! I hope you come back and Chelsea too…..we’d love to come to another seminar!
God Bless.”Lisa and Rodney

“Someone at Feed Your Faith had this great idea about putting together a concert where Warren would be singing songs about marriage and sharing some personal stories, and he’s got some great ones — they’re funny and inspiring.  They combined that with a couple messages I had been giving on how to rescue a failing marriage, how to fireproof your marriage. And we put that together and we had a wonderful result.” Kirk Cameron

The group that I run with Mike Williams, Feed Your Faith, is once again working with Kirk Cameron and Warren Barfield of the hit movie FIREPROOF.  We’ll be with them this weekend in Kentucky.  Rich Copley of the Lexington Herald-Leader did a great story about our event.

Former child star Kirk Cameron to speak at Feed Your Faith Conference

By Rich Copley, Lexington Herald-Leader

Kirk Cameron says people don’t come up to him wanting to talk about his TV show Growing Pains.

That seems a tad surprising, considering even, say, a child star as famous in adulthood as Ron Howard says he still has people coming up to him to talk about his days playing Opie on The Andy Griffith Show.

Kirk Cameron at a Feed Your Faith Conference

But when Cameron goes out to meet the public these days, it is often closely related to his latest film work, Fireproof.

The 2008 movie was the most recent production by Sherwood Pictures, based at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga. Cameron, 39, played a firefighter whose seven-year marriage is fizzling until he makes a commitment to Christianity.

It’s the latest faith-based film for Cameron, who also starred in the Left Behind series of films, based on the apocalyptic novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. In addition to being the top independent film of 2008, Fireproof launched a hit book, The Love Dare, and several events. Those include a series of conferences by Cameron and Christian music star Warren Barfield, whose Love Is Not a Fight was the movie’s theme song.

Cameron and Barfield’s “Love Worth Fighting For” event comes to Lexington on March 6 for two sessions at Immanuel Baptist Church. It’s the first tour stop of the event that was started by Knoxville-based Feed Your Faith.

“Someone at Feed Your Faith had this great idea about putting together a concert where Warren would be singing songs about marriage and sharing some personal stories, and he’s got some great ones — they’re funny and inspiring,” Cameron says. “They combined that with a couple messages I had been giving on how to rescue a failing marriage, how to fireproof your marriage. And we put that together and we had a wonderful result.”

Barfield says, “My goal is to see some family trees change, some marriages last that were going to break up, some children born who maybe never would have been conceived because their parents split up.”
